Faculty Spotlight

Introducing Jeff Olbrys
Assistant Professor of Mathematics Jeff Olbrys' "mugshot".
Mr. Olbrys is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of the State of New York and his Master of Science from Georgia State University.

Why did you decide to go on LC2DC?
DC is a wonderful place to visit, and I enjoy spending time with students outside of class.

What most excites you about LC2DC?
There are several new monuments since I was in D.C. last (specifically the World War II and the new MLK memorials) that I hope to see. D.C. has some incredible public spaces that are neat just to walk around in.

What do you hope the students will get out of LC2DC?
The overwhelming message I took from my visit to the Holocaust Museum is that all it takes for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing. The message of community is that we have a responsibility (a personal responsibility, not some anonymous government agency) to take care of one another.

Anything else unique/interesting you'd like to share?
I will be happy to explain why the elliptical "whispering room" in the Capitol works.
