Dr. Spragley teaches U.S. History since 1865 and Crossroads. He has also taught Introduction to Education. His area of specialty is Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in History and Economics (he also as a minor in Statistics). Dr. Spragley earned his Associate of Arts degree from Chowan University; his Bachelor of Science from East Carolina University; and, his Master of Education and his Ph.D from North Carolina State University.

Dr. Spragley tells us in his own words…
My reason for requesting to attend LC2DC was my desire to share some of my academic knowledge about the nation's capital with students of Louisburg College.  I believe that the area is full of living history that students need to be made aware of at every opportunity.

What most excites me about LC2DC is the opportunity to get to know students and faculty outside of the traditional academic setting.  I believe that this platform will allow each of us to reflect more so on our place and mission in the world, an experience that we sometimes do not receive in the traditional classroom setting.

My hope for Louisburg College students who are traveling to D.C. (and those who will be blogging) is that they will use this experience to reflect on the nation's history, its relevance today, and their role in the time continuum.  Furthermore, I would hope that the students use the opportunity to expand their opinions and views as they relate to the current political climate in the United States.

Finally, I would like to share that I am an Army Veteran and the Montgomery G.I. Bill paid for my first four (4) years of college. GO ARMY!!
